Issued by Charles Decaen, Governor General of Pondicherry and Isle de France (now Mauritius) using silver bullion captured from the Dutch ship Ouvidor by the French corsair Pierre Bouvet of l'Entreprenant. Dies were engraved by local engraver Aveline. Previously cleaned though now starting to re-tone. Weakly struck in the centers as usual. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, EF Details Secure Holder.
