PHILIPPINES. 8 Reales, ND (Decree of December 20, 1834, suppressed March 31, 1837 (By Decree of February 1, 1836)). NGC EF-40.
KM-138.2; Basso-43; Gil-Crown variety 5-4-1-II. Type VI countermark crowned Y-II within circle upon 1834-MM Peru 8 Reales (KM-142.3). Countermark slightly uneven and somewhat obscured on the right side. Attractive slate grey tone throughout the obverse with lovely blue, red and golden hues amongst the devices. While the reverse displays an attractive mottled grey tone with hints of blue and gold in the protected areas. A lovely example with plenty of detail. Host coin and countermark NGC EF-40.
