Antoninus Pius. AD 138-161. Æ Sestertius (32mm, 26.33 g, 12h). 'Victory in Britain' issue. Rome mint. Struck AD 143-144. Laureate head right / [IMPER]A TOR [II] around, BRI TAN/S [C] in two lines across field, Victory standing left on globe, holding wreath and palm frond. RIC III 719; Banti 45; SCBC 643. Fine, pitted, green and brown patina. Very rare.

Antoninus Pius received his second imperial acclamation, as recorded in this coin's reverse legend, for the victory by his governor in Britannia, Q. Lollius Urbicus, over the Brigantes. It was Urbicus that also constructed the Antonine Wall in Scotland from Forth to Clyde.
