al-Wâthiq Nûr ad-dîn Ibrâhîm ibn al-Muzaffar Yûsuf, king of Zufâr (Oman), 695-711 H./1296-1311 AD Dirham (695?, vaguely visible) H., (Thaghr?) Zufâr, in obv. field: Yûsuf / as-sultân al-malik / al-wâthiq nûr ad-dunyâ wa d-dîn / Ibrâhîm ibn al-malik / al-muzaffar. Gewicht fehlt! Album, Checklist cf. A1104A; zeno.ru 12337 (696 H., with longer legend). Extremely rare Very fine Slightly chipped and struck with rusty dies

Zufâr in the Southern part of the Sultanate of Oman had been incorporated into the Rasûlid state in 678 H. In 692 H. according to al-Khazrajî I p. 226, or already in Ramadân 690 H according to the anonymous 9th century author (Ta'rîkh ad-dawla ar-rasûlîya p. 42, 47) al-Wâthiq Ibrâhîm was sent by his father as his viceroy to Zufâr, South of Oman, where he went by ship from 'Adan. As his father died in 695 H. he remained in a rather independent position for the rest of his life. Subsequently his family remained in the position of kings of Zufâr as a separate line of the Rasulids, which confirmed occasionally, e.g. in 767 H., that they struck their coins in the name of the sultan of the Yaman (Ta'rîkh ad-dawla ar-rasûlîya p. 67).
