Large copperplate-engraved Dutch map of Mexico by Hondius, ca. 1606-30, hand colored. 17-3/4" x 21-1/2". Detailed map from the reissued Mercator work "Atlas Sive Cosmograpicae" published by Hondius. Displays Mexico's Pacific coast as well as a wide swath of interior with numerous town and city names throughout. Cartouches in the corners display the engraving name, bar scale, and additional location names. French text displayed on reverse. Very fine condition with small internal tears around upper cartouche, central vertical fold reinforced on reverse, some water stains, great original colors.
