Bust Quarters
1835 25C B-7, R.2, MS63 PCGS. Tompkins Die Stage 1/4. The upper part of the N and the right part of the M are filled. No period follows the C in the denomination. Low-grade examples of the 1835 B-7 quarter are fairly plentiful, but coins "in EF to AU will present a challenge," according to Steve Tompkins. This Select piece nearly qualifies for the Condition Census. Mainly brilliant interiors turn to shades of olive and gunmetal tones around the borders. The stars and central motifs on each side are well brought-up. An impressive, conditionally scarce Capped Bust quarter. Population (all varieties): 21 in 63, 22 finer (9/17).
