Proof Two Cent Pieces
1866 2C PR65 Red PCGS. CAC. At least 725 two cent proofs were distributed in 1866. Additional sales of minor proof coinage went unrecorded. This lovely Gem enjoys original copper-gold surfaces with slight woodgrain accents. There are a couple of tiny carbon spots, and a lint mark travels through the left obverse field to the adjacent olive leaves. Encapsulated in an old green label holder (PCGS 2.0, used from October to December 1989). Population: 30 in 65 Red, 6 finer. CAC: 6 in 65, 11 finer, including Cameo and Deep Cameo (9/17).
