1798 $1 Large Eagle, Knob 9, 5 Vertical Lines, 10 Arrows, B-6, BB-96, R.3, XF45 PCGS Secure. CAC. Bowers Die State V. This piece appears intermediate between Die States IV and V in the revised Bowers Silver Dollar Encyclopedia. The die cracks of State V are present on both sides, yet the reverse has not been relapped. Both of the headless arrow shafts are visible among the 10 complete arrows. This delightful, light-silver example displays considerable luster for the grade amid splashes of pale amber and iridescent toning that invigorate each side. A Choice example of this early type and an important Guide Book variety as well. Housed in a PCGS Secure holder with CAC endorsement.
