Morgan Dollars
1893-S $1 AU50 PCGS. VAM-2. As the rarest circulation-strike Morgan dollar, this issue is frequently imitated. Although two die varieties are known, they share a common obverse die. This obverse die has a small die chip in the left foot of the R in LIBERTY, and a diagonal die line in the left top of the adjacent T. A parallel die line extends through the cap just above that T. This example has the second reverse with the S mintmark low and tilted slightly to the right. A good source of variety information and photos is www.vamworld.com. This satiny silver example has considerable luster with faint champagne toning. The fields are slightly reflective.
