1903-S $1 MS63+ NGC. Although not as rare as it was once thought, the 1903-S is a confirmed semikey issue in the series with a low mintage (just over 1.2 million pieces) and perhaps only 1,500 Mint State survivors according to Miles Standish's well-thought estimate. This high-end Select Uncirculated example is more satiny than frosted yet brightly lustrous and lightly toned with tan-gold accents. Liberty's hair is razor-sharp, as are the other motifs. A few light abrasions on the cheek are the only noteworthy marks. NGC has recognized just three coins with the Plus designation at the MS63 level (9/17).
