Proof Morgan Dollars
1898 $1 PR67 Deep Cameo PCGS. Proof 1898 Morgan dollars were struck largely in February and March, as well as again in December for the Christmas holiday season, with other small deliveries in June and September. The quality of the coins was high, and the 1898 proof has a reputation for strong strikes and good contrast. Nonetheless, Deep Cameos are conditionally rare in PR67 or better grades. This example is brilliant and starkly contrasted with a razor-sharp strike. A few wisps of milky patina are seen in the fields but do not detract. Population: 16 in 67 (2 in 67+) Deep Cameo, 3 finer (9/17).
