1891-CC $5 MS64 PCGS. Variety 2-A. The top of the 1 in the date is faintly recut on this variety. As a date, the 1891-CC half eagle is in high demand as a readily available Carson City gold piece. However, it is conditionally scarce in MS64 and rare finer. This near-Gem offers sharp design definition and frosty, original mint luster. Light, scattered surface ticks determine the grade. A few unobtrusive coppery discolorations are also noted. Population: 87 in 64 (4 in 64+), 2 finer (9/17).
