Liberty Double Eagles
1862-S $20 AU55 PCGS. From a mintage of 854,173 pieces, the 1862-S Liberty double eagle circulated widely at the time of issue, and few examples were saved by contemporary collectors. The present coin is an attractive Choice AU specimen that shows just a touch of wear on the well-detailed design elements. The pleasing orange-gold surfaces are lightly abraded and display faint traces of original mint luster. Population: 47 in 55, 85 finer (9/17).
