So-Called Dollars
1933 Medal Pedley-Ryan Dollar, Type VII, HK-828, R.7, MS64 NGC. Silver, 40 mm. The Pedley-Ryan dollars were struck by the Pedley-Ryan firm of Denver, Colorado in 1933, at the height of the Great Depression. Several varieties are known, all containing one ounce of pure silver. This piece represents the final variety, Type VII, HK-828, which was die-struck and advocated a bimetallic standard with a gold-to-silver ratio of 16-1. Only 50 examples were struck, making the issue very rare today. This attractive Choice specimen is well-detailed and well-preserved, with ample eye appeal. Census: 4 in 64, 3 finer (9/17).
