Early Half Dollars
1795 50C 2 Leaves, Small Head, O-126a, T-22, High R.4, VG8 NGC. Tompkins Die Stage 1/2. The B in LIBERTY is repunched, star 15 points above the bust tip, and the Two Leaves reverse has berries arranged 9x8. This is a late die state example with a crack through the E in UNITED. T-22 represents the first use of a new master obverse die created by Chief Engraver Robert Scot. This well-worn half dollar has steel-gray surfaces overall with elements of golden patina over the central motifs. The date and legends are clear.
