Proof Seated Half Dollars
1890 50C PR65 NGC. Housed in an older holder with appreciable, undesignated contrast on each side. The cameo effect is amplified by lavender-gold toning in the fields and a ring of ocean-blue at the peripheries. A few faint hairlines in the fields are well-hidden by the light patina. The 1890 proof half dollar is scarce in Gem condition and increasingly elusive any finer. Census: 32 in 65 (1 in 65+), 27 finer; 10 in 65 Cameo, 14 finer; 3 in 65 Ultra Cameo, 7 finer (9/17).
