1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, Wide Date, B-12, BB-120, R.4 -- Cleaned -- PCGS Genuine. XF Details. Bowers Die State V. The date is low and wide, and a die crack extends vertically from the rim between the 79. This well-detailed coin is struck minutely off-center toward 9 o'clock, producing thin dentils along the left-hand peripheries and uncommonly wide dentils at the opposite border. Strike weakness above the eagle should not be mistaken for wear, as this piece has surprisingly strong detail for the XF level. An old cleaning is long toned-over with pewter-gray hues.
