1799 $1 7x6 Stars, B-12, BB-160, R.3, VF35 PCGS. Bowers Die State III. Traces of golden mint luster remain at the margins of this Choice VF early dollar. Regrinding of the reverse die by the Mint removed all of the berries on the olive branch, leaving a solitary berryless stem among the leaves. Attractive bluish-brown toning lightens to pale silver-gray at exposed high points of the devices, which are quite sharp for the assigned grade. The eye appeal is exceptional.
