Early Dollars
1799 $1 7x6 Stars, B-22, BB-168, R.4, XF40 PCGS. Bowers Die State III. A horizontal die crack bisects the reverse, traveling from the rim through the E in UNITED across the eagle and between AM(ERICA). The stars are arranged 7x6 on the obverse. The second T in STATES is positioned over the left edge of the cloud. According to Dave Bowers, most BB-168 dollars "are in lower grades through VF. EF coins are very rare." This charcoal-gray dollar is remarkably sharp on the stars, lower curls, and shield. Smooth overall with a few obverse adjustment marks.
