Morgan Dollars
1879-O $1 MS65 PCGS. The venerable New Orleans facility was reinstated as a mint in 1879 largely to fulfill the requirements of the Bland-Allison Act of 1878. It responded with a mintage of nearly 2.9 million silver dollars, despite a lack of silver bullion that limited production. The 1879-O is a workmanlike issue with few Gem coins and very few examples any finer. This brilliant and frosted Gem is brightly lustrous and razor-sharp. PCGS has certified a mere 26 coins in finer grades (9/17).
