Liberty Half Eagles
1843-D $5 Medium D AU50 NGC. Variety 10-G. Half eagle output at the Georgia facility reached 98,452 pieces in 1843. The issue's survival rate of 450 to 550 coins makes the 1843-D one of the most collectible issues from this branch mint. About Uncirculated examples, however, are somewhat more elusive with roughly 90 to 125 pieces extant. This baggy offering presents orange-gold color and relatively good design detail. A rim nick occurs between stars 7 and 8.
