Liberty Eagles
1891-CC $10 MS62 NGC. Variety 2-B. The fletching points to the first C in the wide CC mintmark. A die line within the upper loop of the R in LIBERTY further confirms the attribution. Carson City Mint officials struck an unprecedented quantity of eagles in 1891 to replenish dwindling Treasury reserves. A total of 103,732 1891-CC ten dollar gold pieces were manufactured, and a good number survive in Mint State. This glittering, well-struck example boasts swirling luster over lightly marked surfaces. The lower portion of the eagle is notably sharp.
