Liberty Double Eagles
1873 $20 Open 3 MS62 PCGS. The double eagle dies were modified part way through the year in 1873 because Chief Coiner A, Louden Snowden thought the Closed 3 in the date looked too much like an 8. This attractive MS62 specimen exhibits sharply detailed design elements and lustrous orange-gold surfaces that are lightly abraded, aside from a long thin scratch in the left obverse field.
