The Bechtlers produced the first gold coins in this country during the North Carolina Gold Rush of the late 1830s and 1840s. This popular variety features the N in ONE reversed. Reddish-gold surfaces are boldly defined with light marks. The noted damage occurs below the H in BECHTLER. Listed on page 392 of the 2018 Guide Book.
