Anonymous. 211-208 BC. Æ Semis (27mm, 12.43 g, 4h). Corn-ear and KA series. Mint in Sicily. Laureate head of Saturn right; S (mark of value) behind / Prow of galley right; grain ear and S (mark of value) above, K[A] (ligate) to right. Crawford 69/3a; Sydenham 310b; Type as RBW 287. VF, dark green patina with tan highlights, a bit of roughness.

From the Andrew McCabe Collection. Ex RBW Collection duplicate; Sternberg 27 (7 November 1994), lot 269 (realized CHF 275).

At first look this appears to be a variety with just the letter K before the prow, rather than KA or IC. Close inspection, though, shows the mintmark KA, with the A under patina. An especially attractive example. [Andrew McCabe]
