SRI LANKA (CEYLON), Native coinages. Period of the Chola Invasion. Circa 990-1070. AV Kahavanu (21mm, 3.54 g, 10h). King reclining to right, holding aloft a full blown lotus / King standing facing right, holding aloft double crescent; altar, flame, and pellets–in–annulets in fields. Cf. Mitchiner, Non-Islamic 825 (king holding sankh shell on obv., lotus on rev.); Friedberg 1. Good VF, lightly toned, areas of red deposits.
