Head of Helios facing slightly right / Rose with bud to right, I - ½ flanking stem, above. SNG Keckman (Finland) 793-795. Extremely Fine; pleasingly toned; some minor deposits and light cleaning marks; well centered and struck.

R. H. J. Ashton in his 1988 article "A Series of Pseudo-Rhodian Drachms from Mainland Greece" (The Numismatic Chronicle, vol. 148, pp. 21-32) argues that this coinage was struck by Perseus to pay Cretan mercenaries serving in his army.
