Very scarce set of 6x base metal Cape Town café tokens for the Pier Restaurant. The restaurant was a local favourite and these tokens were issued for people to spend at the café and arcades at the pier, they were issued between 1911 to 1913 by Cape Town Catering Department for use in the booming new seaside resort. The tokens represent the full set of of six as follows; 2/6d., 2/-., 1/-, 6d., 3d. & 1d. all in base metal, each piece is GVF to EF grades. (Hern 108a to 108f)
