KINGS of ARMENIA. Artavasdes II. 56-34 BC. Æ Tetrachalkon (23mm, 8.36 g, 12h). Artaxata mint. Struck circa 50-38 BC or 34 BC. Diademed and draped bust right, wearing tiara / Nike standing left. Kovacs 167; M&D 117; CAA 132; AC 130. Fine, earthen black patina, overstruck on uncertain issue (as usual for this type).
Because nearly all of the known examples of this issue are overstruck on other coins, Kovacs suggests that it may have been struck as an emergency issue during Mark Antony's invasion in 34 BC.
