THRACE, Abdera. Circa 336-311 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 10.30 g, 11h). Aigialeos, magistrate. Griffin lying left / Laureate head of Apollo right; EΠI above, AIΓIAΛEΩΣ to right. C-N Period XI, 44 var. (unlisted dies); May, Abdera 529; HGC 3.2, 1211d corr. (magistrate); New York Sale XXXIV, lot 50 = Pecunem 8, lot 73 (same dies). Good VF, toned, find patina on obverse. Very rare magistrate for tetradrachms, only five examples noted by C-N, two in CoinArchives.
