IONIA. Erythrai. Circa 550-500 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 7 mm, 0.37 g). Rosette with central raised disk with eight pellets around central pellet. Rev. Rough quadripartite incuse square. Cf. CNG E-Auction 319 (2014), 76, Leu Web Auction 1 (2017), 526 and Naumann 35 (2015), 233 (all with slightly differing obverse). Very rare. An attractively toned and very well struck example. About extremely fine.


This appears to be a new variety, with eight pellets surrounding the central pellet on the raised disk on the obverse.
