CILICIA. Tarsus. Antoninus Pius, 138-161. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 31 mm, 16.09 g, 12 h). Y / Π - Π Laureate head of Antoninus Pius to right. Rev. Demos, bearded, seated left, holding wreath in right hand; to left, star. RPC IV online 5031. About very fine.
This is an unusual depiction of the Demos: here he appears as a middle-aged, bearded man, seated on a throne on the reverse, rather than as a juvenile head on the obverse, as is so often the case.
