THRACE. Maroneia. Circa 189/8-49/5 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 16.73 g, 12 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath and taenia. Rev. ΔIONYΣOY - ΣΩTHPOΣ / MAPΩNITΩN Dionysos standing slightly left, holding grapes in his right hand and narthex stalks in his left; to inner left and right, monograms. Schönert-Geiss 1145-78. Beautifully toned and of unusually attractive style. Die break on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
