Italy. Northern Apulia, Teate. AR Didrachm, c. 275-225. Obv. Diademed head of nymph left. Rev. [T]IATI. Boy rider right, crowning his horse; below, dolphin left. SNG Ashmolean 196 var. (dolphin right). HN Italy 700 var. (same). AR. g. 7.00 mm. 20.50 RRR. An apparently unpublished variety. Extremely rare. Reverse slightly off centre. Lightly toned. Good VF.

The reverse type derives from Tarentum, possibly through the Campano-Tarentine series. The South Italy, 1949 hoard (...) shows that this issue is contemporary with Tarentum, Evans Period VIII. (HN Italy, p. 81, 700 note).
