SWEDEN. Carl XIV Johan, 1818-44. Riksdaler 1821, Stockholm. 29.18 g. Ahlstrom 43; KM# 610; Dav-350. Obv. king facing right, AN IVBIL 1821 below. Rev. three kings Gustav I (Vasa), Gustavus II Adolphus (the Great), Frederick I (of Hessen), below C B (Mm. Christopher Berg). Struck in 1825 (hence delayed) to commemorate the crowning of Gustav Vasa as king in 1521, a date which marks the start of modern Swedish history and the end of Danish domination in Scandinavia. A pleasant specimen of this popular type.
