KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 16.78 g, 12 h), struck posthumously, Mesembria, c. 250-175 BC. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus, wearing himation, seated to left on throne, holding scepter in his left hand and eagle on his outstretched right; to left, helmet to right above monogram of ΠΑ. Price 992 (same obverse die). Toned and attractive. Minor scratch on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
