PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Darios I to Xerxes II, circa 485-420 BC. Daric (Gold, 15 mm, 8.33 g), Sardes. Persian king moving to right, crowned, wearing robes and in the running-kneeling position, with quiver over his shoulder, holding transverse spear in his right hand and a bow in his left. Rev. Irregular oblong incuse. Carradice Type IIIb group A/B. Same reverse die as CNG e-auction 345, 341. Toned and well-struck. Very fine.
