KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 18 mm, 4.20 g, 11 h), Abydos, c. 310-301. Head of Herakles wearing lion's skin headdress to right. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long sceptre with his left; to left, lion standing right, its head turned back to left; below throne, ivy leaf. Price 1554a same obverse die. Well centred lustrous example with clear fields. Good very fine.
