KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.18 g, 1 h), Abydos, c. 310-301. Head of Herakles wearing lion's skin headdress to right. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long sceptre with his left; to left, monogram of MI ; below throne, monogram of ZΩ. Price 1531. A very attractive example; clear and well struck. Nearly extremely fine.
