North Africa, Carthage AR Shekel. Time of the First Punic War, circa 264-260 BC. Head of Tanit left, wearing triple-pendant earring and wreath of grain ears / Horse prancing to left. Jenkins, Punic 427 (same dies). 6.40g, 19mm, 11h.

Good Fine. Extremely Rare.

Jenkins includes this coin amongst the series attributed to the early years of the First Punic War on account of its clear similarity to the 6-shekel, 5-shekel and 3-shekel types. Jenkins recorded only the one example, to which he added the note: Shown at B.M. 1968 (genuine?)"."
