Early Quarters
1806 25C B-9, R.1, MS63 NGC. Tompkins Die State 6/5, the latest obverse and reverse die states recorded in that reference. The obverse shows a bisecting rim-to-rim crack from the 1 in the date to the E in LIBERTY. A second crack from the rim to the drapery joins the first crack behind the neck.
Both sides display extensive clash marks, and the reverse has a number of small rim breaks. The date is notably clashed at TES OF. This lovely Select Uncirculated quarter exhibits gray-gold toning over ivory luster with delicate blue overtones. Trivial marks limit the grade but fail to diminish the eye appeal. Census (all varieties): 9 in 63 (1 in 63+), 15 finer (10/17).
