Standing Liberty Quarters
1916 25C AU55 NGC. One of the trickiest, yet most underrated niches in U.S. numismatics is the lightly circulated key-date coin. There are many more collectors who want an attractive AU example than there are survivors, pushing many would-be owners either into the uncomfortably costly Mint State range or down on the grade scale. This Choice AU 1916 Standing Liberty quarter offers a great opportunity for collectors in the niche, for while light wear is distinct on the high points, the still-lustrous surfaces -- pale gold-gray with dots of blue and violet -- are generally smooth. A small abrasion is present to the left of Liberty's legs.
