Barber Half Dollars
1902-O 50C MS67 NGC. The 1902-O is usually found with substandard luster, but not on this piece. The surfaces are bright and semireflective with immediate eye appeal. As is characteristic of the issue, this piece is weakly defined on the head of the eagle, the top of the shield, the juncture of the shield and right wing, and the right claw. Yet, the obverse is weak only on star 11 and the highest points of the portrait. The technical quality is unsurpassed. The certified population for the 1902-O is scant in Mint State and pieces grading finer than MS65 are extremely rare. This example is tied with one other NGC coin as the finest known (10/17).
