Proof Seated Dollars
1858 $1 PR20 PCGS. OC-P1, Low R.4. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/a. As a proof-only date in the Seated dollar series, the 1858 is unquestionably a series key both by mintage and by demand. It is only occasionally available to collectors at auction. This is a well-circulated proof example, which retains is wide rims but only glimpses of its original proof finish within protected areas. Tan toning on the high points contrasts with the silver-gray fields, and some iridescence remains beneath the patina. Light abrasions are visible with a glass. This is the sole PR20 example at either PCGS or NGC. Housed in an old green label holder. PCGS Population: 1 in 20, 103 finer (10/17).
