Trade Dollars
1877-CC T$1 MS62 PCGS. Tall CC mintmark. Used only to a small degree in Old West commerce, most of the 534,000-piece mintage fulfilled its purpose as coins for foreign trade. A small number of Trade dollars entered domestic circulation, but they were neither popular nor necessary. This Uncirculated example was somehow put aside and well-preserved. Light chatter in the fields suggests occasional bagmarks from transport or storage. The strike is sharp across lightly toned and lustrous, silver-gray surfaces. Population: 33 in 62 (1 in 62+), 48 finer (10/17).
