1833 $2 1/2 BD-1, R.5 -- Rim Filing -- NGC Details. AU. Bass-Dannreuther Die State a/c. The only die marriage for this rare date. The obverse rim is filed, but this lemon-gold representative displays noticeable luster, and the only mentionable abrasions are a cluster of small marks above the eagle's head. The strike is good aside from some characteristic softness on the shield. Just 4,160 pieces were struck, and approximately only 60 to 80 pieces are known according to the Bass-Dannreuther reference.
