Liberty Quarter Eagles
1858-C $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS. Variety 1. The 1858-C quarter eagle was struck to the meager extent of 9,056 coins, and yet it is the most collectible C-mint issue for the decade and one of the most available overall, including in high grades. Doug Winter suggests this may reflect the dispersal of a small hoard in the 1980s and accounts for the estimated 15 to 25 Mint State survivors.
This impressive MS62 two and a half dollar gold piece has the vibrant, frosty luster and rich orange-gold color specialists expect for the issue. Strike detail is razor-sharp for the North Carolina mint. A phenomenal type coin. Population: 11 in 62 (2 in 62+), 5 finer (10/17).
