Liberty Quarter Eagles
1859 $2 1/2 Old Reverse, Type One, MS63 PCGS. This is the first transitional year in the Liberty quarter eagle series, with Type One and Type Two reverse dies utilized in 1859, 1860, and 1861. The Old Reverse style, known as Type One, is scarcer in each of those years. An outstanding Select Mint State example, this variety is extremely rare in higher Mint State grades. This piece has bold design motifs with delicate rose toning on its satiny yellow-gold surfaces, exhibiting considerable field reflectivity. Population: 7 in 63, 3 finer (10/17).
