1903 $5 PR55 PCGS. CAC. Even though this vibrant, orange-gold proof saw brief circulation, it retains about 50% of its original mirroring and nearly all of the sharpness of its strike. One of just 154 pieces issued, gold proofs were a luxury at the turn of the century and we suspect the original owner spent this coin in a time of need. It has not lost its eye appeal and the coloration is spectacular. Population: 6 in 55, 47 finer. CAC: 2 in 55, 8 finer (10/17).
