1851-O $20 AU55 NGC. Variety 1. The mintmark is slightly to left of the center over the N, a die chip is seen in front of Liberty's eye, and a die crack connects the tops of TED of UNITED confirming the variety. The ample mintage of 315,000 pieces ensures the ready availability of the 1851-O through XF. AU examples are scarce and Mint State specimens are rare. This Choice AU coin displays apricot-gold color and traces of luster in the recessed areas. Some light striking is noted on Liberty's hair and the obverse stars, which is typical for the issue. Distributed light marks are not detracting.
